Progress Report: This game had been 99.99% complete
After numerous rounds of testing, while there are some minor issues and areas for improvement, I have confirmed that the game SHINNEMIA in the Forest Invader is playable from start to finish. It is in a state where it can be released at any time. The remaining 0.01% was decision to release the work rather than an actual task. And I have decided not to do it. I estimate the current completion status to be around 95%. At this point, I have decided to add more content. Compared to the work done so far, this will only take a little time, perhaps around a week to complete. The release date will remain largely unchanged, although there might be a slight delay. I apologize to the supporters and followers who have been looking forward to it. I hope for your understanding that this is to enhance the quality of the product.
Additional Content
The additional content I have decided to include is, in short, event scenes. As previously mentioned in the last article, the game contains three event scenes:
- Opening: Right after the game starts (2 still images)
- Middle: After capturing the enemy’s first stronghold (1 still image)
- End: After capturing the enemy’s main base (1 still image)
Initially, the plan was to progress the scenes by displaying still images and dialogue text. However, upon trying to create them, I found that this approach was too simplistic and lacked depth. This seems to be a limitation based on my abilities and preferences. It appears that simply displaying still images alongside dialogue results in content that feels shallow and bland. (It seems my creativity is not sparked by non-grotesque depictions, as was the case with The Adventure of Seeking After Succubus.) To address this, I plan to adopt the skit-style approach using character chips, as used in Queen of Massacre. This method allows for visual progression of scenes with relatively little effort and makes writing dialogue easier. Additionally, by placing multiple characters, it will be possible to vividly depict scenes such as group raids on enemy villages. This method also significantly reduces the time required compared to creating individual still illustrations.
Completed Tasks
During the first half of this month, I focused on adjusting the game’s levels, debugging, and adding features to reduce player assistance and burden. Currently, I believe the game has settled into a level that should be clearable without too much difficulty. However, there are still some tedious and complex tasks that require perseverance. While some of these are unavoidable due to the nature of the game, I still aim to make the gameplay as comfortable as possible for players.

- Tutorial
- Periodic display short advice (Tips)
- Functionality to advance turns by holding down a button
- Ability to place a whole row of units at once with one touch
- Quick access to system settings and message logs with one touch
- Title screen
- CG viewing mode
- Event scene review mode
- Demo mode
▲The title screen had not been created for a long time. While features like CG and event scene viewing modes are considered “standard” for adult games, creating a full-fledged one is quite challenging.
